The 60th Anniversary Ceili was held on the 18th February in Tullyglass House Hotel. It was lovely to see past and founder members there and it was especially nive to welcome Mrs. Margaret Badger, a Founder Member and past captain, all the way from Australia. The music was provided by Kenny Mitchell and Sam Jones kept us right with some excellent calling. A buffet supper was proveded by the hitel and I think all who attended would agtree it was a very enjoyable evening.
The 2010/2011 session drew to a close with the G.B. Display and District parade. The 60th Anniversary Dislpay was helf on Friday the 25 th March when out guests were Rev. Noel and Mrs Michelle McClean (Past Chaplain of the G.B. Company). The programme was short and varies with each section, even the officers, doing an item.
Each section took a decade from the company's formation in 1951 to the present and based their item around events or a film from the particular period, and then joined together for the finale, which was based around the makeing of an anniversary cake. The evening was rounded off by the presentation of cups and awards. Naomi Gregg and Esther McKane were presented with their Brigader brooches and Linda Patton with her Officer Promotion Certificate. The G.B. parade and church service were held on Sunday 27th March 2010 to Hydepark Presbyterian Church, the weather stayed finr and there was a good turn out of girls.
G.B. started again, after the summer break, on the 8th September 2011. It was lovely to welcome back many familiar faces but also a lot of new faces as well. The joint G.B./B.B. enrolment service took place on Sunday 9th Ocotber 2011, with Rev. Moxen from Greystone road Presbyterian Church as speaker.
All section are now well and truly into the swing of things with badge work, bible class and preparations for the various competitions.
