Outreach Projects - Peru

In June 2008, Ruth McKee, a member of our congregation travelled to the Shalom Centre in Peru for a year as part of a Latin Link Stride Programme. This was not Ruth's first visit to South America as she had been to Brazil in 2002 and 2005 and has been part of a Latin Link Step team to Shalom in Peru in 2007.

The Shalom Centre is for children and young adults with disabilites from under resourced areas of Arequipa. The children attend the centre daily or are visited by staff in their own homes. This provides invaluable care for these young people.

During Ruth's stay she will be living with a local family and learning the language while adapting to a very different culture so she will appreciate the prayerful support of the entire congregation.
